Anti-Ragging Laws and Complaint Mechanisms |

| Kishtwar Campus, University of Jammu Organises One-Day Awareness Programme on Anti-Ragging Laws and Complaint Mechanisms in Collaboration with DLSA Kishtwar
Kishtwar, 13/04/2026, Reinforcing its commitment to a safe and dignified educational environment, the Kishtwar Campus, University of Jammu, successfully organized a one-day awareness programme on Anti-Ragging Laws and Complaint Mechanisms in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kishtwar. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of the campus as well as from other colleges and institutions across the region.
Dr. Hilal Ahmad welcomed the guests, participants, and students, and anchored the programme with remarkable poise. Adv. Afshana laid a strong foundation by explaining the basic definition of ragging and the associated legal formalities, sensitising students about what constitutes an offence. Adv. Sandeep Kumar enriched the session by tracing the history of ragging, highlighting how it evolved from a misguided tradition into a serious crime. Adv. Naveed Ahmad provided a comprehensive overview of the current scenario of ragging in educational institutions, including emerging trends and challenges. Collectively, the sessions empowered students with the knowledge that ragging is a cognizable offence, and that multiple complaint mechanisms—both institutional and through DLSA Kishtwar—are readily available for their protection. The programme concluded with a firm commitment from all participants to maintain a ragging-free campus and to act as responsible peer monitors.
Professor Jasbir Singh, Director of Kishtwar Campus, presented a vote of thanks and gratitude to the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kishtwar, all faculty members, technical and support staff, and every student for their invaluable collaboration and success of this programme. Sincere thanks are also due to Adv. Afshana, Adv. Sandeep Kumar, and Adv. Naveed Ahmad for their illuminating lectures.
In the end under the guidance of Swati Devi (Para legal Volunteer) , everyone present took a solemn pledge to uphold anti-ragging laws and to fully utilize the complaint mechanism, voweing to never indulge in or tolerate any act of ragging.

Mega Plantation Drive and Swach Bharat Abhiyan |

| Kishtwar, 27 March 2026: On the initiative and directions of Prof. Umesh Rai, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, the Kishtwar Campus organized a Mega Plantation Drive along with a Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Cleanliness Drive) with the objective of promoting environmental conservation and fostering a culture of cleanliness on the campus.
The programme was conducted under the leadership of Prof. Jasbir Singh, Director, Kishtwar Campus, who joined the event in virtual mode and addressed the participants. In his address, he underscored the critical importance of afforestation and emphasized the urgent need to plant more trees to mitigate environmental degradation and combat the growing threats of global warming. He also elaborated on the causes and consequences of climate change and urged the campus community to act as responsible stewards of the environment.
The event successfully integrated two key themes—promotion of ecological sustainability through plantation and reinforcement of cleanliness practices in line with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Participants took a pledge to maintain cleanliness on the campus and to nurture and protect the newly planted saplings.
The initiative was spearheaded by Dr. Hilal Sufi of the Department of Kashmiri under the guidance of the campus administration. The drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teaching faculty, and non-teaching staff, all of whom contributed collectively towards making the campus greener and cleaner.
Dr. Hilal Sufi expressed his sincere gratitude to all participants for their active involvement, which ensured the success of the programme.
The initiative reflects the University of Jammu’s continued commitment to promoting environmental responsibility, sustainability, and civic consciousness among its students and staff. |

Educational Trip to University of Kashmir |

| Four-Day Educational Exposure Visit by the Departments of Kashmiri and Information Technology, Kishtwar Campus, University of Jammu, to the University of Kashmir Begins Today* Kishtwar, November 5, 2025: The Department of Kashmiri and the Department of Information Technology, Kishtwar Campus, University of Jammu, have jointly commenced a *four-day academic exposure visit* to the University of Kashmir, Hazratbal, Srinagar. The educational tour, beginning today, November 5, will conclude on November 8, 2025. The visit aims to enhance experiential learning, strengthen academic collaboration, and provide students with direct exposure to research and innovation at a leading institution. During this program, *MA Kashmiri (Semesters I & III)* students will visit the Department of Kashmiri, University of Kashmir, to gain deeper insights into Kashmiri language, literature, and culture. They will interact with eminent scholars and faculty members and explore rare manuscripts, archival materials, and advanced research methods in literary and linguistic studies. Simultaneously, *M.Sc. Information Technology (Semesters I & III)* students will visit the Department of Computer Science, University of Kashmir. The visit focuses on bridging theoretical learning with applied research. Students will interact with experts in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and the Internet of Things (IoT) and explore advanced research facilities and computational laboratories. Aligned with the *National Education Policy (NEP) 2020*, the initiative emphasizes holistic and experiential education. The key objectives of the tour are: * Strengthening academic collaboration between the University of Jammu and the University of Kashmir * Providing students with hands-on exposure to academic and research environments * Encouraging innovation, research, and higher academic pursuits * Creating opportunities for joint projects, internships, and workshops * Enhancing the academic profile and institutional linkages of both departments This four-day visit reflects the continued commitment of Kishtwar Campus, University of Jammu, to promote research-driven, practical, and interdisciplinary learning among students. |

| On 29 October 2025, the Department of Kashmiri at Kishtwar Campus, University of Jammu, inaugurated a week-long workshop on the theme “Kashmiri Script Writing”, scheduled to run from 29 October to 4 November 2025.
The inaugural ceremony commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Dr. Tufail Habib, who greeted all dignitaries, faculty members, students, and participants present.
The inaugural session was graced by Prof. Basharat Iqbal, Principal, Government Degree College Kishtwar, who attended the event as the Chief Guest, accompanied by Prof. Umar Din Rather. In his address, Prof. Basharat Iqbal emphasized the cultural and linguistic value of the Kashmiri language, appreciating the Department of Kashmiri for taking a significant initiative to promote script learning in the Chenab Valley. He highlighted that the preservation of language is central to safeguarding regional identity and cultural heritage.
The Director, Kishtwar Campus, Prof. Jasbir Singh, reaffirmed administrative support for such impactful academic and cultural activities, assuring that all necessary facilities would continue to be provided for strengthening the teaching and promotion of the Kashmiri language. Moreover, in his address the Director Kishtwar Campus informed that Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor University of Jammu has a special consent for the development of the campus. He has instructed to develop the campus as a hub of local cultural, literary, and academic activities in accordance with NEP_2020. Faculty and staff members present at the ceremony included Dr. Aftab Ahmad (I/C Head, Department of IT), Dr. Ishfaq, Dr. Kamar Ul Zaman, Ms. Ruchi Sharma, Mr. Sameet Kumar, and Mr. Paras Sharma.
The program was also supported by the non-teaching staff members whose cooperation ensured smooth coordination.
The event witnessed active participation from students of the campus and learners from various institutions, reflecting a strong interest in reconnecting with the linguistic roots and rich cultural heritage of the region.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Hilal, who expressed sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest, the accompanying dignitary, the Director, faculty members, staff, students, and all participants for contributing to the success of the inaugural program.
The workshop will continue for the next seven days, featuring both theoretical lectures and practical interactive sessions on Kashmiri Script Writing. |

Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 |

Kishtwar, October 31, 2025:
On the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Kishtwar Campus, University of Jammu in collaboration with Chenab Valley Power Projects (CVPP) – KWAR Hydro Electric Project organized an Awareness Programme under Vigilance Awareness Week on the campus.
This year’s theme for Vigilance Awareness Week was “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility.”
A Quiz Competition on vigilance, integrity, and transparency was held, with 25 students participating.

Prizes were distributed by Mr. Anil Kumar Chaudhary, Project Vigilance Officer (KWAR HEP), and Mr. Sumit Mahajan, Vigilance Officer (KWAR HEP), along with Dr. Aftab Ahmad Mir, I/C Head, Department of Information Technology, and Dr. Meer Tufail Mohammad.
The message of Prof. Jasbir Singh, Director, Kishtwar Campus, was conveyed, wherein he emphasized the importance of fostering ethical conduct, responsibility, and transparency among students. The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, also extended his message encouraging students to uphold integrity and contribute to building a corruption-free society.
It was highlighted that Vigilance Awareness Week is observed every year across the country on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to spread awareness about honesty and accountability in public life.
A Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. Aftab Ahmad Mir, acknowledging the dignitaries, organizers, participants, and supporting staff.

Vice Chancellor, JU visits Kishtwar Campus |

| Prof. R. D. Sharma, Vice -Chancellor Jammu University visited Kishtwar Campus today. He was received warmly by Director Kishtwar Campus and teaching and non-teaching staff of Kishtwar Campus.
Prof. Sharma interacted with the students and faculty members of the campus. The interaction session started with welcome address by Prof. H. N. Sheikh, Director of the Campus. Prof. Sheikh highlighted the achievements of the campus and challenges being faced by the campus in view of absence of permanent / regular teaching faculty. The faculty members requested Vice –Chancellor to increase their consolidated salary in view of enhancement announced by the Higher Education Department, J & K Govt. for contractual Teaching staff in Colleges. Vice Chancellor agreed in principle and assured teachers that university will issue necessary order in this regard in near future. During the interaction Vice Chancellor advised students to work hard and make optimum use of the facilities developed by the university in the campus. He called upon students to concentrate on their studies and make self-study a habit. Prof. R. D. Sharma appreciated that courses being run at Kishtwar Campus are highly technical and job oriented and there is need to motivate and attract students of Kishtwar and adjoining areas towards these courses. He promised all possible help to make Kishtwar Campus more vibrant by introducing more courses in future.
The interaction ended with a formal vote of thanks by Dr, Shabir Ahmad from Department of Kashmiri. |
